Calculate energy consumption
One of the big challenges of calculating energy is to get the energy consumption data for each of the rooms in the building. You need this in order to calculate the net energy consumption of the building, but also to determine the required insulation thickness for each room.
In the figure below, the rooms are denoted by W1-W4. The rooms are assigned values, which are used to calculate energy consumption, and the data is used to calculate the net energy consumption for each of the rooms.

A room’s energy consumption is normally calculated in accordance with the DICE method.
In the DICE method the energy consumption is based on two components, and this is calculated by multiplying the amount of heat used by a thermostat in a room with the amount of heat used by an air conditioner.
Calculating the net energy consumption of a room involves a mathematical manipulation that takes into account the energy consumed by each appliance.
Since each room has its own energy consumption, the challenge is to calculate the net energy consumption based on the energy consumption of each room.
